'Dark Blue' was my entire personality in 6th-8th grade. "Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?" HELLOOOO best believe that was all over my Myspace and AIM profile thing.
Now this is what I’m talking about! Saw the title and immediately knew we would be going a little journey of the best album of one of the best pop punk bands (in my opinion). This album was and still is EVERYTHING to me. Fingers crossed the next time a man makes appearance will be for talon…?
Truly cannot express my excitement and overall joy coming into this episode! As a long time JM fan, I have ALWAYS searched for deep dive videos on this album specifically or just the band in general just to result in absolute nothjngness. And FINALLY!! The diva comes to serve it to us.
Madeline!! Before listening to this episode, I have something to say.
I know you and Zach haven’t been huge fans of Conan Gray’s music in the past, but his new era is seriously intriguing. He announced his fourth album, Wishbone, on May 22nd—set to release August 15th—and the caption he wrote for it on Instagram was long but genuinely captivating.
The first single, “This Song,” dropped May 30th, and I’ve been seated ever since. While Conan’s never labeled his sexuality, we’ve always known he’s interested in both men and women. This video was the first time he’s featured a male love interest—who also happens to be Sabrina Carpenter’s best friend. It’s especially fun considering Conan is best friends with Olivia Rodrigo.
The second single, “Vodka Cranberry,” just dropped today, and I’m speechless. The video continues the story from the first and feels like an actual movie. Dan Nigro’s production on both tracks is stunning—something different, but still familiar in a weirdly comforting way.
Anyway, I’m obsessed with both singles and their visuals. If you’re down to react (on or off camera), definitely go in release order. Even if it’s something that you end up not liking, I’d love to hear what you think!
Now to listen to this incredible episode before me. So excited! 🫶🏼
Loved this episode so much! Jack's Mannequin / Something Corporate was never really popular in Europe, I discovered them through One Tree Hill back in the day and Everything in transit means so much to me. I always come back to this record for some reason and I'm so glad whenever someone brings them up so thank you for doing the work!!
Listening to this makes me want to press play on the album right nowwwww but as someone who has access to a beach I feel like it would be illegal to listen for the first time when I’m not en route to said beach. So tomorrow has now become a beach day, thank you 🙏🏼
ive never heard of either bands but in lizard we trustttt! thanks to your recs ive been able to greatly widen my music taste so after this episode I will check them out. I CANT believe I would've never discovered cece or Sunday 1994 if I never clicked play on TLR ! love ya lizard !! ur amazing !!

Love that Last Straw, AZ is on the essentials playlist. Surprised not to see Konstantine though! My original ATW 10.

nooo I would’ve given anything to go to their Red Rocks date this month but I couldn’t make it happen 😭
*shaking my fist at the sky for you!*
I can’t lie, I got choked up listening to you describe everything I’ve ever felt about this album but failed to put into my own words
Here for deepdives into forgotten lore on punk rock / rock-and-roll in the lead up to Beyoncé's act iii…
