If you want to be the most popular house at Halloween, set up a cotton candy machine in your front yard like my neighbors a street over from me. We hardly get any, but kids will literally wait in line for like 20 minutes at their house and people drive to their street specifically for it. I can’t even imagine how much sugar they have to buy for that.

Also, I was truly obsessed with practical magic when it came out and I had the CD soundtrack and listened to that Stevie nicks song on repeat for so long! The funny this was that I had read the book before and usually I don’t like movies of books I read, but this one was the exception (even though the movie didn’t follow the book too closely) sorry for the ramble!!

Bette Midler carries this film for sure. I applaud you for your thoughts at the end of your talk. As you mentioned this movie was made in 1993 in Hollywood-- I have sadly learned that many terrible things were happening in Hollywood regarding young actors at this time (and never stopped). But fun, action packed Halloween film! Thanks.

You know how they play “A Christmas Story” on loop for 24 hrs on TNT every Christmas? That’s my biggest tradition where I have let it play multiple times over for it to really feel like Christmas and Hocus Pocus is my Halloween version of that.

If I haven’t watched it at least 3-4 times in the later weeks of October then what am I even doing?? I really leaned into it this year and just played it over and over while getting ready, even had it on in the background while I was listening to this episode 😅.

I remember a time when I got kind of annoyed that they played it soooo much on ABC Family (before it became Freeform) instead of playing other movies but thank god I’ve grown up lmaoooo. I did actually sit and watch it all the way through before listening to this episode and was also SOBBING at the end. 😭😭😭 the full circle brother/sister moment are you kidding me!??!? CIN👏🏼E👏🏼MA.

Omg funny story! As a religious trauma girly I was not allowed to watch like any of these films including mean girls. But I saw all of the memes all of the references all of the jokes the recitings of entire scenes ad naseum to the point where I actually couldn’t appreciate the genius of it when I saw it for the first time. I already knew everything. Congratulations culture! You ruined mean girls for me! Of course today it’s easier to see how brilliant it is. I can’t help but feel like I really missed out though!
