She posted a lyric analysis, I said “what a mind”, this happens all the time. Even on songs where I’m like oh I get it already and like… yes I do but no I don’t! Not like Madeline! I am but a simplem minded peasant subject of the lizard queen. 🦎
I didn't think I could love this song any more than I did or feel more seen than I did when I first listened to it, which is why I voted for Guilty as Sin? for grins. BUT, I stand corrected and more in love with this song than ever. Thank you, Madeline, for GETTING IT. 😭 Of all of Taylor's songs, this is the one I wish I could play and sing and claim. But only in my miiiiiiiiiiiIIIIIIIIIInd. (sigh) Time to break out of The Tortured Poets Department, get some sunshine, touch some grass, etc.
If anyone can comment on how difficult it is to exist in culture now it's Taylor. Almost 20 years for her to reflect on! Weirdly I think a decent time for women was actually the late 1970s and into the 80s and 90s because women really started to embrace a lot of independence coming off of the 60s (and overall cities were dicey but still safer than now). Always extremely bad things in the US and world...always. Thanks for this Madeline it was super fun to listen to!!!
You have many talents lizard but I must say you’re really in your bag and shining when you’re doing lyrics analysis! You always peel back the layers of the lyrics so thoroughly to get to the core of the song, and you always reveal a new or hidden meaning I didn’t quite manage to grasp before 🖤
Hi Madeline: The link above is a youtuber from Australia; if you go to about 17 minutes in and watch the TTPD analysis she juxtaposes So High School choreo with many Travis moves on the field, Smallest Man choreo with Matty moves on stage, and ICDIWABH choreo with many references to the Eras tour in its entirety...very clever I thought and thought you might enjoy.
