I hate to say this but I feel like Beyonce researched all those country references as if she was in a college class, but never quite grasped the beating heart of country music. The songs are either bland, boring nothings or not country at all. And the ones that aren't country at all are not as captivating as those on Renaissance, so what's the point? I felt embarrassed listening to big chunks of it. The only time I had a full country blast was in TEXAS HOLD 'EM. YA YA was good fun, but maybe a little too Hairspray the musical and just not country at all lol. And I swear I'm not gatekeeping, I love Willie Jones' blend of country and hip hop, for example. I just think that if Beyonce doesn't like country, she didn't have to force herself to do this.

I get what you mean - on a couple songs it's kinda like she's doing country cosplay as opposed to like really doing a country song. One part that made me kinda wince is when she started talking about like not being able to afford insurance and etc etc and it's like noww...how would you know? LMFAO it just felt like pandering to me

I really don’t understand this take at all. Lmfao. Her mentioning regular people struggles has been a theme throughout her entire discography and the last time she did it was on Break My Soul - so this has nothing to do with ‘country cosplay’… I don’t think she wants us to believe that she has experienced those things (especially ever since she’s achieved success and fame) herself because cmon now … obviously she hasn’t. She’s speaking to and sharing these songs with a large audience and wants to share uplifting messages - you can call that pandering, whatever, but you can’t deny the impact it actually has on listeners (maybe not you specifically.) She’s attacked for not being relatable enough and portraying a “queen” image, but when she tries to share human experiences that a larger amount of people can connect to she’s pandering and cosplaying? She can’t win some people over lol. But hey let’s let taylor sing about kitchen table bills.

Well I've also roasted Taylor for pretending to have ever been poor too 😭 I guess as an actual poor, listening to extremely rich people try to relate to us in that specific way rubs me wrong but I get what you're saying.

My fav was hands to heaven, it was giving me cater 2 u/dance for you vibes. Felt sexy and intimate. Curious what you thought of daughter, I thought it was haunting and vocally insane but “cold as titanic water” did make me laugh out loud.

Just a heads up bc I’ve seen you and Zack call it “renaissance act ii, cowboy carter”

Act i was titled renaissance… act ii is cowboy carter! The overall trilogy doesn’t have a title (yet) and beyoncé herself has only addressed it as a “three act project” :)
