Maddy.. I’m here for your Matty comments. 🙏🏻🤣 Also, dorky thought but I would pay for this… can we have a monthly group where you give us lyrics of one song and we can meet/discuss all our thoughts?!?! 🤡
WELL SAY THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This does give me an interesting nugget of an idea like sending out a bat signal about a specific song and leaving up a google form for people to send in their thoughts and analyses of it and then making an episode about it…now we’re cookin….
I love listening to lyrics and breaking them down but no one can actually “discuss” it with me! I just loved this episode and truly feel so much differently about Halsey and that song! Cheers girlie!
Your comment on women being the muses while men get to be the artists reminds me of the way people put so much weight on the men Taylor writes her songs about instead of actually focusing on her songwriting skills. Some people even claim that without those men Taylor would be nothing because they just can't accept she's a great artist. Tortured Poets and Great Impersonator are definitely the two most misunderstood albums of the year, it's shocking the amount of people (mostly men) who have dumbed those records down to Taylor and Halsey "complaining" and making themselves out to be victims. I really enjoyed listening to this, you picked up on so much in the lyrics!!
Ughh this was so good! I’m obsessed with the collision/intersection of Halsey, Matty and Taylor. They make such an interesting Venn diagram… gobble, gobble, gobble.
I didn’t actually connect “Lonely is the Muse” to Matty at all, but when she sings “I’m just waiting at the bar, and you rip open all my scars, saying something like ‘didn’t know you were here,’” it kills me every time. I imagined a Dementor-like presence, but when you made Matty materialize, I was broken.
Also…. There is a great migration from X over to Bluesky in progress… will the Lizard Review be hopping over? It’s a lovely place. Not dystopian hellscape at all!
I actually thought the arsonist was Matty… the whole match on the cover of Midnights, and Taylor’s “arson’s match” in loml and he strikes me as someone whose kit human starter kit came a bit incomplete 🤷♀️
Madeline this was brilliant!! It made me go back and listen to Two Girls, One Muse, also incredible! Love the religious/martyrdom analysis. My brain exploded.
madeline you absolutely cooked on this one. i listened to this and IMMEDIATELY related to it (Despite not having inspired platinum records lol) and it is making all the men confused because they don't get it!!!!
also PLEASE start the lyrics club i have so much to say.... first ep evermore the song i have MUCH to say....
